We’re having a problem in Report Builder where respondents could say multiple open-ended responses to a question and it doesn’t look like the entries we coded as “other” are all being counted. At first we had each “other” coded as 26 so we then tried creating a unique value for each additional menti... [view]

How would you compute the percent of respondents where (q1 is between 1 and 5) or (q2 equals 2)? [view]

I have a set of open-end numeric variables that were part of a 100 point allocation question. If I’m trying to create a NET variable that pulls in anyone who allocated 1+ points across 3 of the variables, how would I write that syntax? I tried this syntax, but it’s telling me no one meets this cr... [view]

Stat test letter cell formatting in Excel

1 comment(s)     Apr 5, 2016

When we create a table any cell that does not contain a stat letter will have many decimal places (although the format will only show 1 or 2, whatever we specify). However, if there is a stat letter, then only the number of decimal places as we've specified show up along with the stat letter. Is it ... [view]

Sorting with N-Axis visible

1 comment(s)     Mar 9, 2016

When the N Axis is visible and is the innermost rows axis, sorting doesn't work the way you'd probably want it to work. Sometimes percents are first and sometimes frequencies are first. But really, it would be nice to leave the elements of the N Axis as-is, but sort using the outer axis, e.g. Meas... [view]

Test Topic about Lorem Ipsum v2

1 comment(s)     Jan 26, 2016

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable Eng... [view]

In a new project I’ve started, the values in the Edit Measures window for percents and frequencies are shown in descending order (from 5 to 1). Typically I’ve seen it in ascending order. Is this related to an update to RB? (Or, could I be working with an SPSS file that has a different way of mana... [view]

Two stat tests on a table or chart

1 comment(s)     Jan 26, 2016

In  my scorecards I need to run two different types of stat testing.  One is against the total column, so if I have Total, Brand A, Brand B, etc across the top, then it is testing Brand A against the Total, Brand B against the total and so on.  I have that all set up, but then I also need to stat te... A user encountered a data file that caused RB to stick at 0% when trying to compute. After studying the file's binary data I discovered that it didn't specify the number of cases in the file. I'm not sure if the SPSS file specification requires that or not. The workaround was to open the file in ... [view]

RESOLVED. I discovered a small bug in RB when using weights. If you have a range defined with an empty upper or lower boundary (`‘null’` in the syntax below) weighted value will always show up as 0. pctinrange(Q1,1,null) However setting the max value to an actual number instead (in this ...
